A dream delayed

As I entered my Junior year at the university, I had to make some important decisions. Needing a bit of guidance at this juncture, I consulted my dad. I explained to him that it was time to focus on either ceramics or graphic design. Dad asked how hard it might be to make a living as a potter versus a graphic designer. I realized that a career as a designer or art director seemed like the more likely path toward my professional and economic goals.

The decision was made (Dad never gave specific advice - he merely led me to make the best decisions). Now 50 years later, I am returning to my first love. As I like to say, I simply took a five-decade detour as a graphic designer, art director, and advertising executive! I feel blessed to have enjoyed a successful business career and can once again focus on my ceramics.
